U.S. Secretary of the Army visits Dynetics Hypersonic integration facility

Thursday July 02, 2020

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, hosted the United States Secretary of the Army, The Honorable Ryan D. McCarthy, at the MidCity Aerospace Integration Facility in Huntsville, Ala., on July 1, 2020. During his visit, Mr. McCarthy toured where the Common-Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB) prototypes will be manufactured.

The Secretary recognized the Dynetics team for their resilience and dedication. In light of recent COVID-19 challenges, the team continued working tirelessly, and socially distanced, toward the completion of the C-HGB program deliverables.

Leaders from the U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) and PEO Missile and Space received an update about the more than 190,000 square foot facility. It will be used for product transition -environmental testing, assembly, and integration - to product delivery. Dynetics Technical Solutions, a Dynetics subsidiary, was awarded the $351.6 million contract in August 2019. The glide body will be a part of an integrated Army hypersonic weapon system prototype that will deliver residual combat capability to Soldiers by 2023.

"You picked this profession because you know it matters," Mr. McCarthy said. "You know what you do protects our way of life. That's why you come in and do what you do, and that's why the U.S. Army is so very grateful for who you are."
