Leandro Barajas of Dynetics Selected as AIAA Associate Fellow

The American Institute of Aeronautics (AIAA) has announced that Leandro Barajas, Ph.D., a principal engineer and section manager in the Unmanned Systems & Aerodynamics Department at Dynetics, has been selected as an AIAA Associate Fellow. The grade of Associate Fellow recognizes individuals "who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences or technology of aeronautics or astronautics." 

To be selected as an Associate Fellow, an individual must be an AIAA senior member in good standing with at least 12 years' professional experience, and be recommended by a minimum of three current Associate Fellows. Dr. Barajas has received more than 60 awards from corporate entities, academia, government and professional organizations. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed technical publications and 55 invention disclosures that have been translated into more than 35 patents and patent applications.

At Dynetics, Dr. Barajas is the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) payload integration electrical lead for a team integrating and testing advanced payloads for the U.S. Army's Project Management Office for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PM UAS).

AIAA will formally honor and induct Dr. Barajas along with the other members of the Class of 2016 Associate Fellows at its AIAA Associate Fellows Recognition Ceremony and Dinner on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, Calif. This event will be held in conjunction with the AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition 2016 (AIAA SciTech 2016) Jan. 4-8, 2016.
