Huntsville, Ala. (May 9, 2022) - Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, was the recipient of the 2022 IEEE Region 3 Employer Professional Development Award. The award was presented at the IEEE Southeast Conference on April 2, 2022, in Mobile, Alabama.
The award recognizes Dynetics as a top company in IEEE's Region 3, made up of more than 24,000 members in the southeastern U.S. and Jamaica, for its outstanding contributions in helping its employees advance their careers.
"Dynetics is committed to the professional development of our employees both personally and professionally," said Dr. Leandro Barajas, chief engineer for the Unmanned Systems and Aerodynamics Department at Dynetics and a Leidos Technical Fellow. "By investing in the whole person, we have the ability to retain the talented and diverse workforce required to execute our missions."
The company received the nomination for the award from the IEEE Huntsville Section currently chaired by Barajas. The nomination also received endorsements from Dr. Laurie Joiner, associate department chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Dr. Bob Berinato, board president of The Schools Foundation in Huntsville.
Dynetics provides its employees a variety of opportunities for professional development. The company offers comprehensive training programs through its internal Dynetics University, which offers 10-15 courses each semester that are taught by employees who are experts in their field. The company also hosts in-house presentations and technical subscriptions.
Recognition programs are a big part of the Dynetics culture, as well. The company offers three companywide awards to highlight employees who demonstrate expertise, high standards and significant contributions to the company - and its core values of excellence, ethics, enjoyment and enrichment.
Dynetics commitment to creating a workforce of lifelong learners includes time spent outside the office, too. The company boasts several employees who teach at local universities or provide other STEM-focused classes to the greater community.
"I know this award will only motivate us to continue our dedication to our employees both professionally and personally," Barajas said.
