Wednesday December 06, 2017

Three northern Alabama companies, Dynetics, Inc., Radiance Technologies, and G&G Steel, marked the completion of NASA's Space Launch System Core Stage Pathfinder Vehicle on Thursday, August 31, 2017. The pathfinder vehicle will be used to demonstrate core stage operations and transportation, including routes for testing, assembly and to the launch site. The steel mockup is 212 feet and 228,000 pounds with a diameter of 27.6 feet. This time-lapse shows the pathfinder being loaded onto the barge. NASA accepted the hardware after it was delivered by barge to the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana in late September. It will travel to Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
